Dum Aloo (Indian Potato Curry)


  • 3-4 Medium sized Potatoes (diced in squares + Pre Boiled)
  • onions (roughly chopped)
  • green chillies (roughly chopped)
  • ginger and garlic (roughly chopped)
  • peanuts
  • fresh tomato (roughly chopped)
  • Plumed tomato Tin
  • Garam masala
  • Salt
  • Turmeric powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Ground cumin powder
  • Mustard seeds
  • Cumin seeds
  • Water
  • Fresh Coriander


Grind together onions,green chillies, garlic, ginger, fresh tomatoes and peanuts.
In a frying pan, put 2-3 tablespoons of oil, let it heat. Once the oil is ready add the mustard seeds and Cumin seeds. Once the seeds start to pop add the mixture from the grinder.
Cook for 5-10 mins. Add half a tin of plum tomato. Add 1/2 Teaspoon of garam masala, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 2 teaspoon coriander powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin powder, add salt according to taste. Let the spices simmer in the tomato sauce for 2-3 mins.Then add half a cup of water. Now add your potatoes. Cook for 10-12 minutes. And Garnish with fresh coriander. Either serve with fresh Rice or Indian Chapatis ๐Ÿ™‚
